QSFP28 100G Optical Switch

A 100G switch is chosen on its port configuration, not on its total throughput: how many servers to connect, at what speed, and how many uplinks to reach the core. Our L3 managed chassis cover access as well as spine, with MLAG, EVPN-VXLAN and RoCEv2.

Leaf & spine: which switch goes where?

A modern fabric has two roles only — and they do not call for the same chassis.

The leaf (access)

This is where the servers plug in: plenty of 10G or 25G ports, and a few 100G ports going up to the spine. A 48 × 25G + 8 × 100G is the most common configuration today.

The spine (core)

It sees no server at all: only 100G links to the leafs. Hence an all-QSFP28 chassis such as the 32 × 100G, with front-to-back airflow suited to hot and cold aisles.

MLAG and stacking

Two leafs in MLAG present a single aggregated link to the server while remaining two separate devices: a failure or an upgrade does not cut the service.

EVPN-VXLAN

The overlay that lets you stretch a VLAN between racks without stretching the broadcast domain — the basis of an IP fabric that scales.

The ports are empty: remember the modules

A switch ships without optics. Every port you use needs a module — or an AOC/DAC cable — and that budget line often exceeds the chassis itself.

100G uplinks

QSFP28 ports: 100G SR4 module on MPO/MTP for within the rack, LR4 on duplex LC for long reaches, or a DAC cable between two neighbouring racks.

10G and 25G access

SFP+ and SFP28 ports: 10G or 25G modules depending on the server's network card. The two formats are not interchangeable.

Coding compatibility

Our modules are coded for the brand of the switch and factory-tested before shipping — the port does not reject them at boot.
